I have worked in IT for 24 years and don’t know everything about it. Like martial arts (I am also a martial artist), your skills as a System and network only improve over time and with content practice and training. T is about the art and training of the IT professional.
This web website blog is a place for me to post my notes, research, and tips on Information technology, computer programming, computer operations, computer science, hacking, and any other technology-related topics. I am only to provide help and information.
I am currently building my own computer services and IT management company. I work as an IT Manager, IT Engineer, and Cybersecurity engineer for a mom-and-pop business in the Bronx, NY.
These last few years, I returned to college and started getting new certifications using Coursera, and it has been eye-opening to be reminded of all the things I learned in the past and to learn new things.
It has also taught me how lazy I have been over the last 24 years because I have worked for people who do things wrong and do not use best practices, which is what I first learned. That’s not what most companies are doing, and you always have to do things the way your company wants them done. Sometimes, companies do this just to get it done or don’t want to spend the money to do it right.
The problem has been in the real world and in social media and many do not see African Americans as being in IT. According to the an article By Jan Shelly Brown, Matthew Finney, Mark McMillan, and Chris Perkins; “How to close the Black tech talent gap.” as 2023 blacks IT Professional are still only 3% of technology Executives, and only 14% of data science, engineering, cybersecurity, and software development rolls.
This makes sense to as access to the education to get these rolls are sometimes not reachable to money and education. When first start out I heard comment like “your the head of IT, your black” or “how you learn computers, they had computers in Harlem.” or ” your black, you didn’t sound black over the phone.”
The good news is thanks to websites like “Coursera” or “IT ProTV (now ACI Learning)” or “Udemy“, “Free Coding Boot Camp“, and a lot free tutorials on YouTube. They more options to get the training at a lower cost. When got my training 2002 to 2003 after drop out college the first time, I went to a IT Boot Camp that cost me $14,000.00, which slowly paid off.
You don’t have spend this type of cash anymore. I going to be using the blog, YouTube channel, and other social media to give and much free training as I can; as well as give out so tips and tricks about work professionally as an IT Professional.
